Hon. Colonial Secretary.

I enclose copy of the statement which San

Yio made in the presence of Acting Inspector Hall regarding the

entry in the list of bribed persons which San Yin says refers to

Acting Inspector Hall No. 91 Sergeant ).

I also enclose copy of Acting Inspector

Ball's statement in reply.

In San Yin's Statement he says that the al-

11

legod payment to Acting Inspector Ball was began about two

months after the gambling house was opened,

蛙 and be gives the

date of the opening of the house as the 8th. moon of the Great

Plague (July 1894 ). He says that the origin of the payment was

that No. 91 had gone to disturb the lane in which the gambling

house was.

Acting Inspector Ball points out that in

1894 he was stationed at Bast Point and that therefore he could

not have gone to visit Wa Lane in the manner complained of by

Sam Yin's Fokies.

Acting Inspector Hall was at No. 1 Station

Bast Point, during 1894 and was transferred to the Central

District.
